With high volumes of customers the length and breadth of the country, CheaperGroup is now a major player in the B2B arena. Founded in Newcastle in 2011, CheaperGroup is going from strength to strength – more than doubling in size in the last year alone.

The Group is currently comprised of CheaperPay (card payment solutions), CheaperConsumables (cleaning products, hygiene equipment, and catering supplies) and CheaperWaste (recycling, general waste disposal, washroom services, and clinical waste treatment).

 Stewart Renfrew, BA, LLB (HONS)

Managing Director

Appointed in 2019, Stewart Renfrew brings with him over 20 years of leadership experience to CheaperGroup. He has extensive knowledge of managing SME businesses having held Directorship positions in Finance, Operations and Human Resources, in many North East based businesses and charities.
It is his goal to grow CheaperGroup and improve standards in the waste management industry and enhance the experience for small and medium-sized business.

Stewart holds a degree in Accountancy from Abertay University, as well as a post-graduate degree from Northumbria University in Law and is a trained Barrister.



Chris Penfold, AAT

Finance Director

Chris joined CheaperGroup 2015, bringing with him over 10 years’ experience in working in high-growth businesses. He has extensive modelling skills, and his problem-solving attitude gives CheaperGroup a leading edge in creating innovative solutions to waste problems and establishing the best business models to achieve this.

It is Chris’s goal to improve business practices with the removal of non-value-added finance processes and introducing automation, including the implementation of a business-wide ERP system.




Michael Shane

Director of People Strategy

Joining the company in 2019, Michael has made it his aim to nurture talent and grow the CheaperGroup team internally.

Michael has over a decade’s experience in human resources and training and specialises in developing strategies for excellence in growing businesses worldwide. It is his goal to make CheaperGroup one of the top employers in the North-East.

Michael holds a Ba (Hons) in Education and Training from The University of Sunderland.


Kelvin Croney

Sales Director

Kelvin has been with CheaperGroup since the very beginning and brings to the company over a decade of experience in sales and management.

Kelvin is a great motivator, who encourages and drives the CHeaperWaste sales team forward both personally and professionally, and ensures the sales team understands all aspects of waste removal so that they provide informed and expert advice to small and medium-sized businesses




Chris Flynn, BA, MSc

Customer Service Director

Chris joined CheaperGroup in 2018, specialises in customer service and process improvement.

Chris leads the customer service team and ensures his staff are empowered to be able to resolve all issues connected to customers’ waste management needs. It is his goal to help customers to get more from their services, and he’ll go the ‘extra mile’ to deliver great service.

Chris holds a BA Hons in Business with International Management and an MSc in Global Business Management from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle.
